there are lots of decisions to make...
... when designing the book interior. Factors to consider include page size, font, font size, use of white space (ie margins), how to start a new chapter (drop caps and any other graphics), use of page header and footer areas for page number and headings. Note that, as with the cover design, we do not proceed to publication until the author is happy with the page design.
WHO KNOWS WHAT CAN GROW OUT OF A BOOK?
Every one of us has a story to tell and there is no knowing how things will turn out when you self publish your book. Many authors are happy just to purchase 20-30 copies of their work to sell or give to family and friends. Other authors are disappointed with their low sales figures. Some authors go on to sell thousands of copies. The most difficult thing of all is not the creation of the published book - it is the sales and marketing needed to get your book known to the world.
SUPPORTED PAGE SIZES
The most popular page size used by our authors is US Trade 6" x 9". Next in popularity is A5. Notice from the table that there are minimum and maximum pagecounts for various page sizes. For example, a 6" x 9" page must have at least 32 pages but the pagecount must not exceed 740 pages. Notice, also, that a 6" x 9" page size can be published in either black-and-white or colour whereas A5 can only be published as black-and-white. The book interior colour (B&W or colour) does not affect the book's cover which is always in full colour.
